Director: Gigi Murphy Gigi danced with Classical Ballet Center of Tampa, appearing in such roles as "Le Corsaire" pas de deux, in Giselle, "The Bluebird" from Sleeping Beauty, "In the Offing" a modern dance solo, and "A Time to Waltz" pas de six. She danced in the corps de ballet in Les Sylphides, Swan Lake (including Big Swans variation), Tarantella, and many others. Ms. Murphy has also performed with the Jacksonville Ballet, and in West Palm Beach, Miami and Sarasota.
Gigi
has extensive experience teaching all levels, from beginners through
professionals. Over the years, she has developed the knowledge, experience
and comprehensive, carefully structured curriculum that allow her to successfully
impart the traditions of classical ballet at each level to each student. Students are challenged and maximizing their capabilities without being overwhelmed
and developing inferior technique.
Gigi began teaching classical ballet at age 14, and taught
beginner through advanced levels for 5 years at Classical Ballet Center
of Tampa. She was a staff teacher for at the South Jersey Academy of
Ballet (directed by Ms. Sandanato and Mr. Yudenich), and has also guest
taught at various other Tampa and Philadelphia studios. From 1999-2002,
Ms. Murphy taught all levels of ballet, as well as character and
variations classes at Academy of the Dance in Wilmington, Delaware.
Landenberg Ballet Theater opened in the fall of 2000.
Gigi graduated summa cum laude with a BA in International Relations from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. She served as a diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service in Hong Kong and Washington D.C. African
Dance Teacher Janet Peck teaches an exhilarating African dance
technique for both young children and adults, enhanced by live drum
music throughout the class. Janet has studied African dance for
10 years, and she currently performs with her own professional African
Dance company based in Lancaster, PA. She holds a Diploma of West
African Dance from Les ballet Africans in Guinea, as well as a Master's
Degree in Dance from Temple University. She has also studied with
Ballet Bougarbou in Senegal. Through her dance experience and
22 years as an elementary school visual arts educator, she has crafted
a teaching style that is clear, warm, attentive and enthusiastic.
Yoga Teacher Linda Vrooman
is a licensed physical therpaist with offices in Elkton, Maryland. She has been studying and teaching yoga for years, and is certified as a teacher
of Anasura - or heart centered - yoga. The class at LBT is for beginning and intermediate yoga students, and offers
a therapeutic work out emphasizing breath, balance, toning stretches and alignment. Linda's quiet, powerful energy takes students from simple, thorough stretches to heat producing balances to amazing flights of meditation.
Jazz teacher Anne Bagwell began dancing at Oxford Center for Dance, studying with Denise Street-Harrison, Jody Fugate, Tim Early, Dina Gazzero and Jennifer Oldfield. She continued her training at Anna Marie's Dance Studio in Wilmingotn, Delaware, with Anna Marie Leo, Sonny Leo, Jody Fugate and Kim Martin. During college, Anne studied ballet, jazz and modern at Towson University and West Chester University. During her time at West Chester, she was involved with Dance Production Workshop, Contemporary Dance Company and Traveling Dance Troupe. Throughout college she taught ballet, jazz and tap at Steppin' Out Dance School and Kicks Dance School. She is currently a member of Dance Matrix Dance Company and is attending graduate school at University of Delaware. Anne also continues to choreograph and dance as an alumna of West Chester. She also has been a featured performer in several teen pageants and benefits. Annie's jazz class is an eclectic blend of various jazz techniques that offers
beginner and intermediate dancers the chance to sample a variety of styles and
musical genres as they dance and move across the floor.
